Who cares about writing? What are people trying to learn about writing outside of English class?
There are a lot of ways to answer this question, but I think we can learn a lot of social media like YouTube and TikTok in terms of what kind of content about writing is interesting or useful to the average person. There’s also a lot of grey area between clickbait and a recorded lecture — the space where information and entertainment mix.
So I’ve made some things. I helped produce a video trying to tackle the old question What Is Rhetoric? I spent a few years making videos for the Purdue OWL and mentoring other grad students on video production. I also manage a YouTube channel called More Than Memos that highlights current research in technical communication.
